President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden appeared on NBC’s coverage of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, but the conversation got off to a rocky start.
NBC’s Dylan Dreier greeted the president at the beginning of the segment, but the two parties struggled to connect for about 20 seconds.
“Can you hear me, Mr. President?” Dreyer asked.
“We’re here,” Biden replied.
“Oh, I was so worried that these calls wouldn’t go through,” Dreyer said.

The president and first lady eventually struck up a clear connection and were able to talk about their annual Thanksgiving trip to Nantucket, Massachusetts, where the Bidens met and thanked emergency workers.
“I want to say thank you to the firefighters and police officers, the first responders. They never take a break,” the president said after communications were restored.

“And God certainly bless our troops,” Jill Biden chimed in.
“And by the way, we’re going to talk to some of our troops later here and overseas. I hope everyone remembers. We miss them every single day,” Biden continued. “God bless our troops indeed!”
