Seven times Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky On Tuesday he maintained his claim as the sport’s greatest player, equaling Michael Phelps’ record for individual titles at the world championships.
Ledecky, 26, won gold in the women’s 1,500m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. Fukuoka, Japan Tuesday with a time of 15 minutes, 26.27 seconds.

It was the third-fastest time of his career in the event. He also beat the second place finisher by 17 seconds.
Ledecky became the first. Tuesday’s victory made it five world titles in two different competitions. He also tied Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, for the most individual world titles.

She is now the world’s most decorated female swimmer with a total of 20 gold medals, 15 of which have come in individual events.
“I never dreamed of winning an Olympic gold,” Ledecky said after the race. “So after I did that, it was like, ‘Well, the rest is icing on the cake, a cherry on top,’ whatever you call it, I’m just trying to make a bigger cake, I guess.”

He has a chance to make even more history this weekend with the 800 meters on Saturday. If she wins the gold, she will become the first to win six world titles in a single event.
